The partnership between Chaffey College and the City of Fontana has proven successful for both entities. Construction of the new facility off of Merrill is made possible due to the $230 million Chaffey College bond measure approved by voters back in 2002.  This new development will double the size of the current Fontana Center with the construction of a new 10,000 square foot building which will house classrooms, a computer lab, student services, a large lecture room and faculty and staff offices. The grand opening ceremony for the Chaffey Expansion was held January 11, 2007. The new building is now open to serve Chaffey College students in and around Fontana.
